If someone asked me about St Michael's I would tell them...

St Michael’s is a small friendly school, with teachers who work hard to get to know each child.

St Michael’s is an excellent school that accepts children of all backgrounds, whatever their abilities are. The teachers encourage the children to help them reach their maximum potential whilst helping identify any difficulties. We’ve had amazing support from the head teacher for our child and they wouldn’t have progressed as far as they have without this support.

What a wonderful, supportive and encouraging school it is.

Very good school

That it is a great school and would recommend it to anyone. We are looking to send our Daughter here too when she is old enough.

The school feels like a friendly community and has a strong academic focus on results.

It's a great school where children excel and do really well academically. I've seen my children grow and become confident learners as they've progressed through the school. I've been pleased with the school's respectful approach to other faiths. Staff have been very understanding and accommodating of my children during the month of Ramadan.

that my child has not had a school trip since she started at school, and there are no activities on offer.

My 3 children have all thrived at St Michaels, I feel it has given them an amazing grounding in both education and personal and social skills which my older 2 have carried through to high school and I'm confident my youngest will too. I would not hesitate to recommend this school.

I recommend the school as a place to send their children

I would highly recommend sending your child or grandchild to St Michael's. The teachers offer high quality teaching and really care about the children. Communication between the teachers, pupils and parents is excellent. My children have been happy and made some lovely friends. If any problems have arisen they have been dealt with swiftly and positively. The staff go above and beyond for the children because they truly care. It is a safe, clean environment, where teachers encourage and challenge the children to achieve their best without pressure but through positive encouragement.

My child has been very happy during her 8 years at school, though I would like for more school trips & experiences to be offered.

My child is receiving the best education and will be well equipped and prepared when starting High School.

Actions that we are taking as a result of the feedback:

  • Analysed responses at Curriculum and Pupil Welfare Governing Board Meeting on 19-04-23 and agreed actions
  • Shared responses on the staffroom well-being board to enable staff to celebrate all the wonderful positive comments and consider issues raised
  • Headteacher to write to three parents expressing a concern to invite a conversation
  • Referred one concerning response to the Safeguarding Link Governor for further investigation with the parent
  • Investigate class trips again to see how viable the costs are and collect views of parents in each class about contributing a greater amount so that visits can go ahead
  • Investigating where sports and other extra-curricular clubs could be held with the school hall continuing to be out of use due to the demand for before and after school childcare
  • Speaking to the pupil groups that decide on non-uniform and other dressing up days to see if they prefer to go back to celebrating nationally recognised days or prefer to stick with their own planned days such as this year: 'what will you be be when you grow up' day, diversity day, kindness day etc.
  • Reviewing methods of communication with parents
  • Keeping a mix of in person in school and teams appointments for parents' evenings, with more of the former, to meet parental preferences.
  • Reviewing pupils' understanding of online safety.

Thank you to all the parents that contributed their views,

Melanie Barratt
